Fenstermaker's Movassaghi to Lead Chamber of Commerce

Dr. Kam Movassaghi, President of Fenstermaker, was inducted as the 2009 Chairman of the Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce at the Annual Banquet on January 22nd at the Lafayette Cajundome. During his leadership year, Movassaghi will focus on the advancement of the I-49 project, promoting education and developing the region's workforce.

Dr. Movassaghi is no stranger to leadership roles. He is the immediate past President of the Transportation & Development Institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers. He served as the Secretary of Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development from 1998 to 2004 under Governors Foster and Blanco. Prior to this, he headed the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where he served as a member of the faculty from 1980 to 1999. These are but a few of the highlights from Movassaghi's extensive professional career.

Recently, Dr. Movassaghi has been designated as a "National Associate" of the National Research Council (NRC) of the National Academies. This honor, bestowed upon an elite few throughout the country, is in recognition of his extraordinary service pro bono publico, or for the public good. This designation, in acknowledgment of Dr. Movassaghi's past service to the NRC of the National Academies, is a lifetime appointment.
